Daikin air to air heat pumps
Daikin's Altherma range is air-to-water. Its air to air heat pumps are the split and multi-split systems, with wall units such as Emura, Perfera, Stylish and Comfora. Daikin also makes Multi+, which combines air to air heating and cooling with a hot water tank, useful if you're removing a gas boiler.

Why Multi+ matters for the grant
The grant requires no fossil-fuel heating to remain, so removing a gas combi leaves you needing another source of hot water. Daikin itself notes air to air can be paired with hot water solutions such as Multi+, as long as no fossil fuel heating stays in place.
Before you choose a model
- Compare the heating SCOP on the energy label, not the cooling figure.
- Check heating output at low outdoor temperatures on the spec sheet.
- For the £2,500 grant, check the exact model is listed for air to air on the MCS product directory, and that your installer is MCS certified for air to air.
- Ask whether the warranty is longer when fitted by the brand's approved installer, and what servicing it needs.
